In India, there are many children belonging to a special category, who are neither normal nor belong to the typical classification of mentally retarded. Yet, these ChiefEssays.Net children, afflicted with Autism or Hyperactivity or ADHD or Cerebral Palsy, struggle with their mental challenges and don’t find admission to schools for normal children.
These children usually face problems such as hyperactivity [find it difficult to sit in one place], attention deficit disorder [difficulty in concentration], dyslexia [reading difficulty]. Some children have perfect hearing but no speech. Some can walk but cannot run; some can read but cannot write.
“Santosh Institute” was founded in August 2007 in Mahatma Gandhi School, Bandra East, especially for such children. This institute caters to Autistic individuals, physically and mentally challenged children.
Since then we have added various branches of sports clubs and schools. Details are as follows:
- 9 branches of Sports & Schools at Opera House,, Bandra, Andheri, Goregaon, Kandivali, Mira Road, Thane, Dombivali, Belapur
- 5 Swimming Centers at Goregaon, Bandra, Miraroad, Kandivali, Andheri
- 8 Schools at Opera House, Bandra, Andheri, Kandivali, Mira Road, Belapur, Thane and Dombivali
- Residential, Day Care and Vocational centers at Mira Road
A total of 250 students with Autism and other disorders are enrolled in the institute, either as day scholars or evening students for sports and swimming https://theessayclub.com or as boarders. In addition, every year, we also organize summer camp, Diwali vacation camp and Christmas vacation camp for Autistic & M.R. Children.
Our Sports Club is the first of its kind in Mumbai that provides sports training to children with special needs. Here children of all age groups with any of the following: Autism, Mental Retardation, Down’s Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Learning Disability etc. learn a variety of sports skills like Cycling, Cricket, Skating, Yoga and Carrom to the best of their abilities.
The basic idea for starting Santosh Institute was that as children grow, they need regular activities to help them with their physical growth, to utilize their energy in a proper and meaningful way, to develop their social skills, to calm them down and regulate their night sleep pattern.
Through sports, academic, vocational and ADL training, Santosh Institute is able to help these special children, according to their needs and capacity for learning.
SHORT TERM VISION
We want to club all facilities, namely Academic, Vocational and Sports, under one roof and make it a state of the art therapy centre, in Mumbai.
Hence, we will need a space of approximately 3000 Sq. ft area along with an open ground in Mumbai to execute this plan. Your help, whether in donation in kind or cash, or as a reference, can help us in getting this space.
LONG TERM VISION
Having met so many parents of special children, we understand the biggest concern in their hearts is the question….…..“Who will take care of my child after me?”
Respite care is an essential part as an overall support for the families with special children. Now our ambition and dream is to create a Residential Project outside Mumbai.
This project will be equipped with every facility, therapy, training and safety measure available for these children. It can provide a solution to the everyday problems and fears that parents of special children face. Needless to say, this dream project can become successful only with your help.
